What are Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)?
Recognizing a person’s limitations is the first step in developing a care plan (or making a referral for care). This helps us to provide the appropriate type and level of assistance. ADLs – many of us have never heard of this term. The acronym ADL is very familiar with caregivers of the elderly, nursing one back to health and those with diminished physical capacity.
ADLs – Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Activities of daily living are activities related to personal care. They include bathing or showering, dressing, getting in and out of bed or a chair, walking, using the toilet, and eating. The need for help with understanding Oregon ADL (Activities of Daily Living) or
IADLs – Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL), or self-management are apart life for 2 out of 3 Americans as we age whether due to illness or disability.

So I did some research, called 15 facilities, and managed to get on one wait list. I also called two companies that assist with finding homes, and they said they could not help. We were concerned we wouldn’t find a place, and if we did, it could be a very poor choice for our dad.
